Alexander James Interiors, a multi award-winning interior design company, has teamed up with Almacantar to create a stunning new London development – Lyons Place. The partnership has allowed the Alexander James team to furnish both an apartment and a townhouse at the development, and these properties were designed by renowned local architect Sir Terry Farrell.
Lyons Place was officially launched in February this year, and during this time the development opened up its doors to visitors so that they could have the chance to view the stunning townhouse and its chic interiors. At the event, Alexander James’ brand partner McLaren showcased its latest car outside for guests to enjoy and there were also cocktails served by a top London mixologist.
The development is situated at the intersection point of Maida Vale, Little Venice, and St John’s Wood, which are all affluent residential areas to live in North London. Lyon Place’s striking exterior, with its three giant, red, modernist petrol pumps, exudes personality and sets the tone for the whole development. These exciting and energetic features of the design were key factors in Alexander James’ desire to work with Almacantar.

Lyons Place is a collection of 22 apartments, 2 duplex-penthouses and 5 three-storey townhouses. The Alexander James team took one of the airy and bright one-bedroom apartments and gave the home a contemporary and stylish decor that beautifully coexists with the building’s art-inspired exterior. The cool palette used in the design process, with rich bronzes, gold embellishments and velvet fringes, has been selected to complement the sunlight’s strength and used to add comfort and warmth. The textures found throughout the house, range from woven fabrics to billowing voiles. Accent colours have also been used and are particularly bold and punchy.
Almacantar’s Townhouse Collection at Lyons Place, needed to have an interior design that was bold yet refined, and this balance of styles is something that the Alexander James team was able to achieve perfectly. The design has elements of tranquil water and earthy history abound, which make reference to the leafy pathways found in the local area. This is particularly highlighted through the strong olive colour used in the: hallway, staircase, and dining areas.

It was important to embody the greenery of Maida Vale and Little Venice within the properties at Lyons Place in order to reflect the local character and history. Connecting the homes to art, literature and artisan crafts was also essential, while maintaining an uncluttered feel with simple lines in order to showcase the play of colour and form.
The living areas exude relaxation and calm, while also providing plenty of exciting touches, such as the handcrafted tubular wall lamps that sit upon the Lichtenstein-inspired multi-coloured wallcovering. Additionally, the statement coffee tables, reference the organic form and design icons, contributing to the characterful essence of the Townhouse Collection.
The bedrooms are richly luxurious, with each featuring its own tones over a neutral palette. The master bedroom has a darker elegance and is offset by bright flashes of warm metal and aged glass. In the second bedroom, there are marble topped bedside tables and conical lamps which speak to the play of light and dark, and contrastingly the third bedroom showcases bold textures and the timeless warmth of brass.
