Pay Rent with Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency

In the beginning, there was pizza, then more recently cups of coffee in Starbucks or a holiday through Expedia, and now pay your rent through Mashroom!

From today, Mashroom will be accepting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as payments for rent. The process will be seamless for both our tenants and landlords.

Stepan Dobrovolskiy, CEO and Founder of Mashroom says;

19% of the homes in England are occupied by private renters, and for an increasing number of them, cryptocurrency is the payment method of choice. With such a large demographic, we have to move with the times to avoid alienating anyone, and accepting crypto payments is the natural next step for a business in 2021.

How it works

Step 1. Find your lovely new home on Mashroom.

Step 2. Speak to our team about wanting to pay via cryptocurrency and we’ll set everything up.

Step 3. Pay your rent in the cryptocurrency of your choice, which will be processed by a crypto payment service.

Step 4. The cryptocurrency will be converted into £GBP and be sent directly to your landlord.

Step 5. Your rent is paid. Enjoy a cuppa!

If you are a tenant in the UK that wishes to pay rent with cryptocurrency, and your landlord isn’t on Mashroom yet, then encourage your landlord to join the Mashroom platform and we will sort out the rest!

The private rental market is huge, with 4.44 million households in England are occupied by private renters. This makes up almost one-fifth of all of the dwellings in England.

With the most popular cryptocurrency, Bitcoin becoming a household name, Mashroom believes that it’s time that it pays for that house!

Virtual currencies are increasing in popularity, acceptance and use over recent years and many businesses have started receiving payments in cryptocurrencies.

Crypto is now becoming accepted as a form of payment, similar to credit cards, at many retailers. Due to lower transaction fees, cryptocurrencies are often cheaper than standard credit card payments.

For customers, the process will be very similar to the current card purchase process, where you input your payment details and the financial exchange is taken care of by a secure 3rd party, before being returned to the vendor.

In the very traditional world of property, there has been a real boost in technological adoption recently. The everyday adoption of technology grew tenfold, people are much more comfortable using online platforms now than they were previously, so the online industry boomed.

With the lockdown pioneering these changes, from video viewings to online signing. It’s possible to go through the whole process without stepping foot outside your door nowadays.

So the next logical step would be to pay with digital currencies too.

To pay rent with crypto on our platform, just contact Mashroom through Mashroom.com and we will take it from there.

About Mashroom:

Mashroom is an online lettings platform that combines technology and community to deliver an efficient way to let, secure, and maintain your property. We provide landlords and departing tenants with all the tools to list their property in one secure place, such as drafting and signing of contracts and collecting rent. Landlords and tenants working together creates a smoother overall process and helps to minimise void periods.

Mashroom is for landlords and tenants who are tired of a lettings industry that refuses to evolve with the times. We are driven by technology and place an emphasis on human interaction. Our landlords enjoy total support, cheaper fees, and take care of every part of the process. By connecting landlords and tenants directly, Mashroom offers faster tenancies, reduced void periods and Tenant Team-Up, which enables landlords to enlist the help of departing tenants to secure new ones.
